Commercial diving is a competitive industry. It’s physically and mentally demanding work. You have to work closely as a team with others who are relying on you for their safety.
Veterans often make ideal commercial divers because they’re disciplined, reliable, and highly adaptable. Vets are used to living and working away from home for extended periods of time, and they don’t shy away from dangerous and challenging work.
This is an industry that actively seeks out and prefers to hire veterans.
The Divers Institute of Technology has been continuously owned and operated by veterans since its founding in 1968.
Each veteran will work with a VA certifying official to help you with your G.I. Bill ® benefits paperwork. Our dedicated admissions team will even help you find a place to live while you are here.
More than half of our students and instructors are veterans.
DIT is a VA Approved school. If you served at least 90 days active duty (or 30 days with a service-related disability discharge) after September 10, 2001, you can apply your qualifying Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefit towards your tuition and living expenses while attending DIT.
At DIT you’ll get lots of hands-on, in-the-water training during your 7 month program. We’ll teach you surface and underwater welding, cutting, and burning. You’ll learn diving physics and medicine, safety, rigging, salvage, hazmat, inland and offshore diving and more.
DIT is one of just a few schools in the U.S. that offers the internationally-recognized DCBC Unrestricted Surface Supplied Air Diver Certification, allowing our graduates to work globally.
Classes are taught at our campus located on the shore of Lake Union in Seattle, Washington.
